It has been quite the month for Alexander McQueen and is proving to be quite the year. The tragic and premature death of the founding designer has not  extinguished the immense impact that the design house has over the fashion industry. Early royal friday morning it was revealed that McQueen fashion house designer, Sarah Burton, had in fact been selected to design the Royal Wedding dress of Kate Middleton. Across the pond in New York City the late Lee Alexander McQueen’s legacy  was honored last sunday at the Met Costume Institute Gala. The exhibit, entitled “Savage Beauty showcases McQueens genius from 1992 to his final runway collection in feb of 2010. The collections have been dissected and categorized by McQueen’s inspirations, motivations, and outlooks transformed into garments:  The Romantic Mind, Romantic Gothic, Cabinet of curiosities, Romantic Nationalism, Romantic Exoticism, Romantic Primitivism & Romantic Naturalism. The exhibit lasts through July 31st, 2011.
